![]() ![]() Think we did about 20 more wheel turning cycles just to be positive there were no bubbles in the reservoir. I have a 2000 lincoln continental that I replaced the rack and pinion on. When the fluid coming out of the return was as clean as the stuff going in, I reinstalled the return line to the res. We were able to bleed and flush the system at the same time. I then had my wife turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock.slowly but steadly.(ENGINE OFF)I I kept adding fluid to the res as the old stuff was being purged into the bucket. Jack the front wheel off the ground(jack stands). Saw your pics above- here is a pic of my bottle. Put a union in the return line and attach about 4' of clear vinyl tubeing running that into a 5 gal bucket. Tech- got the same problem as the original poster-noise & foaming. I think my fluid was just old and diluted with the wrong type of fluid. It is necessary to arrest the entry of air and change the fluid for better operation. If air enters the system by any chance, it causes bubbles and foams in the tank. The power steering system is a completely sealed system that functions with the fluid. Has the p/s fluid ever been changed? Do you see any leaks in the system other than at the reservoir? If there's a bad hose or fitting,leaky rack and pinion, it will suck air into the system. It is one of the causes of power steering fluid foaming. ![]()
